Ode to Portland, Oregon
This box book was done at a Sitka workshop in Oregon. The four flaps fold into a box. The black accents are rubbings done in Portland, Oregon on the streets. The middle container holds lavender from my garden and shells and driftwood from near Sitka.
Portland, Oregon towards the end of my 17 year adventure there began to develop growing pains. While not the dystopia portrayed in the media I have some sadness around a lot of the troubles the city was facing. It had grown from a sleepy, slight gritty but artistic city in the 1990s to a place seeking a new identity. I hope it finds it.
